Always give the operator your full address when you book. If your street is outside the zone, the operator tells you then, not on the morning.

Picton is where the ferries from Wellington land and where cruise ships call. It sits 20 to 30 minutes north of Blenheim. Stay here if your crossing is early or late, or if you want the Sounds on your doorstep.

Wine Marlborough promotes staying among the vines: cottages, private homes, lodges and campervan spots on working vineyards. You wake up in the rows, and some cellar doors are a walk away.
The catch is the pickup. A vineyard is rarely in central Blenheim or Renwick, so ask the tour operator before you book either one. A bike day from Rapaura Road may suit you better.
A campervan gives you freedom on the road, but not at the cellar door, because whoever drives cannot taste. Park it and let a tour do the driving.
