What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with any winery or cellar door, with Wine Marlborough, the Marlborough Winegrowers Association or New Zealand Winegrowers, with Destination Marlborough or the i-SITE visitor centres, with the ferry operators or the airport, or with any of the places these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a claim we can measure: Top rated only at 4.9 or higher, Best seller only for the most-reviewed tour, Best value only for the cheapest. Some operators sell the same day on both platforms, and each listing appears on its own because each is separately bookable and priced; they are never shown side by side.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different ways to spend the day: a full guided day from Blenheim or Picton, a shore excursion from the Picton i-SITE timed to your ship, and a self-guided day on a bike.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 26 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Where a listing prints a figure in New Zealand dollars, such as a Picton surcharge or a tasting fee, we quote it in NZ$ as printed. Every fare here is per person. Where an operator's listing runs a limited-time discount, we show the undiscounted fare.

The facts about the region come from New Zealand Winegrowers and Wine Marlborough, the region's own wine body. Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a meeting point, a group size or a stop, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

Cellar-door opening hours. Wine Marlborough says a number of tasting rooms close over winter and that hours found online are not always up to date. Check with the winery, or on Wine Marlborough's own list, before you go.
What each cellar door charges to taste. The only figure a listing gives is the bike hire's "around NZ$10" at many cellar doors, and we quote only that.
The Marlborough Wine & Food Festival as an event. Wine Marlborough has put it on hold, so we list no date for it.
More than one figure for Marlborough's share of New Zealand wine. The region's bodies give it three ways; we use New Zealand Winegrowers' "around two-thirds" of the country's vines.
A listing's title where its own details disagree. One half-day is titled "with Lunch" but lists lunch as an exclusion; our cards say the lunch is at your own cost.
